This analysis comprised 247 job postings in the area, ranging from SEO Specialist Jobs to complete Digital Marketing Manager roles.

In the job descriptions of SEO Jobs in Los Angeles, CA, the average salary is $71,917.18, which is about 7% higher than the national average of $64,032.

This is pleasantly surprising, and it really showcases LA’s need for seasoned experts with a solid track record in search engine optimization frameworks.

Here’s how the salaries are distributed across LA:

  • $50,000 – $69,999: 35.0%
  • $70,000 – $79,999: 26.0%
  • $80,000 or more: 39.0%

Within these job postings, around 65.5% have an above-national average salary. This is huge compared to other cities we analyzed in the US.

However, we must note that this average annual salary is due to the higher cost of living in LA, particularly in areas like Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. Thus, the pay rate must accompany this.

LA Has 163% More SEO Job Opportunities

Even though LA is known to have an above-average salary, they also have more opportunities than most cities in the US.

In total, LA has 163% more job opportunities than other cities. Other cities in the states have around 93.65 job postings, which is much lower than what’s found in LA.

61.1% of All Jobs in Los Angeles Require Mid-Level Experience

Regarding experience, over half of the SEO jobs in LA require mid-level expertise, suggesting that the ideal candidate would bring several years of experience to the marketing team.

This is much higher than at the entry-level and senior levels. Entry-level sits at 30.3% and senior-level, 80.5%.

Over 95% of SEO Jobs in LA Require a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher

Regarding education, almost all jobs require a master’s degree (51.1%) or Bachelor’s degree (44.6%).

This comes as no surprise, considering the 12% higher average salary than the national average.

Regarding the other education requirements, 1.8% had high school requirements, 1.8% had associate requirements, and less than 1% had doctorate requirements.

Alongside this, there are several “favored” skills that aren’t necessarily listed on these job listings. 

For example, understanding analytics tools, analysis skills, account manager experience, communication skills, content marketing expertise, user experience optimization, writing skills, etc. 

The skills required will depend on the job type and related field. For example, if the job title states “SEO Socia Media Manager,” they probably expect you to have a good understanding of all social media platforms and SEO.

As you can see, stands out as a prime location for SEO professionals. They have 12% above average annual salaries and 163% more jobs than other cities in the states.

It also requires the same level of education and experience as most SEO jobs in the US. The city’s market is particularly favorable for individuals with mid-level expertise and advanced degrees.
