Causes of forehead wrinkles

The most visible and stubborn pattern of facial wrinkles appears as vertical or horizontal wrinkles on the forehead. Once these forehead wrinkles form, they are difficult to eliminate and usually last forever, except with the use of certain cosmetic procedures, such as gel injections and lasers.

Plus, we have to admit that deep forehead wrinkles can be more than just a harmless beauty problem.

1. Increased age

Collagen is an essential structural protein responsible for keeping your skin firm and supple. As you age, collagen formation in the body naturally decreases, resulting in an increase in forehead wrinkles.

Perhaps the most important factor in causing wrinkles and fine lines is the decrease in collagen production due to aging, which becomes more visible and persists over the years.

2. Sun damage

Nothing can accelerate skin wrinkles as much as exposure to the sun’s UV rays. The only positive thing about sun damage is that despite the effects of time and genetics, you can control it. Sun protection is essential when you’re at the beach or out doing housework.

Apply more sunscreen and cover your skin with clothing. Protect your skin with a set of SPF 30 or higher sunscreens that are water-resistant. You should use sunscreen every day for all parts of your skin that are not covered by clothing to prevent forehead wrinkles.

3. Smoking

People who smoke are more prone to premature skin wrinkles due to the negative effects of nicotine, which is one of the main components of tobacco. This damage early forehead wrinkles.

Exposure to other chemicals in cigarette smoke exacerbates damage by disrupting the production of collagen and elastin, which are the building blocks of skin, so, with each exposure to cigarette smoke, skin loses its elasticity and youthfulness.

4. Repetitive facial movements

Permanent forehead wrinkles occur over the years due to repetitive facial movements and repetitive contractions of the lower extremities muscles. Wrinkles that result from repetitive contractions of the underlying muscles attached to the skin are known as motor wrinkles.

When a muscle contracts, the skin on it wrinkles, and wavy lines form between muscle masses. Repeated contraction of the same muscles increases the appearance of wrinkles and lines. Forehead wrinkles are mainly caused by frowning or narrowing of the eyes.

5. Low water consumption

Not drinking enough water causes your skin to become dry and dull. If your skin is not hydrated enough, forehead wrinkles will increase and become dry, stiff, dull and flaky. The drier your skin, the more prone to wrinkles.

6. Unhealthy diet

Eating a healthy, balanced diet provides your body with a wide range of nutrients that are beneficial for your skin. Your skin, like any other part of the body, needs adequate amounts of certain vitamins and minerals to stay healthy.

If you do not meet these nutritional needs through diet, their deficiency will appear on your skin. Malnourished skin is highly prone to early forehead wrinkles symptoms.

7. Improper sleep patterns

If you always sleep on your side or stomach, repetitive pressure on the face can cause wrinkles on the face, groin, and forehead. The skin becomes weaker and more prone to wrinkles.

8. Stress

People who are exposed to extreme stress age faster, either due to the inevitable consequences of lifestyle or stressful habits. The primary stress hormone, called cortisol, is a major cause of forehead wrinkles, as it is linked to the destruction of collagen in your skin more than anything else.

The higher the stress level, the more cortisol is produced in the body. Over a period of time, the increased levels of cortisol prevent your skin cells from being able to naturally renew elastin and collagen as they did before. Unhealthy life associated with chronic stress.
